How to have strong faith in the Lord?

I am sure you are as curious as I was when I wanted to know more about faith and how it works in the lives of believers. Faith is very important and we as children of God can’t please God without it.

“without faith, it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6)

Not only that, when Jesus went to His hometown, He couldn’t perform that many miracles because of their lack of faith.

“54 Coming to his hometown, He began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked. 55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? 56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” 57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.”58 And He did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” (Matthew 13:54-58)

Now reading these Bible verses, you must have understood the importance of faith. If I want to define faith then it sounds like this “The faith is a bridge that can lead us to the dimension where impossibilities turn into possibilities.”

FAITH CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS

Jesus said if you have faith and if you command mountains to be cast into the sea, it will happen.

22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly  I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. (Mark 11:22-23)

Reading this I understand  Jesus didn’t mean that we should order a real mountain to move but I believe He was proving a point that what looks impossible to your eyes and brain will be possible with your faith in God.

Now let me ask you a question what do you think if I tell you to believe literally you can move a real mountain by faith?

I know, many will say “No, Nah, never, nope, nada, it cannot happen” because it doesn’t make sense and our brain with its knowledge can’t agree with it.

You Might Like – What does it mean to be blessed?

Exactly, That’s the whole point. Many people can’t grow in their faith because of their knowledge and logic. Who are we to stop Him, if He wants to do something impossible to mankind? The whole universe was created in just six days, and our brains will never agree with it. People deny His power or His work simply because it doesn’t match their level of understanding.

Look at what the Bible says about it –

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways submit to Him,
and he will make your paths straight.

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
(Proverbs 3:5-7)

When Moses and the Israelites left Egypt, they came near the Red Sea, and behind them was a huge Egyptian army coming to kill them. They were stuck there and they couldn’t move forward because of the Red Sea. They were in the middle. Both ways had death waiting for them. That’s when the Lord told Moses to strike the water with his staff and then the sea will divide.

Now Imagine Moses using his brain and his ideas, and knowledge, and trying to figure out how the Red Sea will give them a way to pass through. Instead, he put his trust in the Lord and His power and stroked the water, and the whole Red Sea was divided. Our worldly knowledge will not digest this miracle but it happened.

Moses trusted the Lord and did what was told, and as a result, saw a miracle. Today, People are weak in the faith because they are trying to figure out how it will happen instead of trusting the Lord and doing what He tells them to. We cannot understand how God works with our little brains. He is omnipotent, Omniscience, Omnipresent. Trust Him with your heart and you will also see a miracle. His ways and his thoughts are so different than ours.

8“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.

9“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

How to have strong faith in the Lord ?

We need to have faith like Moses that if the Lord has said something then it will happen. No matter what the doctor or the world says, we must trust our God who is all-powerful and can change the situation.

After all, everything is created by God. The Red Sea and the rock that gave water to Israelites in the wilderness.

Now, Was Jesus talking about a literal mountain? Possibly, why should we doubt that He can’t move if it is His will to do so? However, Jesus is referring to more than just a physical mountain. He was mainly talking about the various difficulties and battles that we go through which seem as big as mountains can be won through faith.

Whether He was talking about a literal mountain or using it just as a metaphor, our work is to believe that He can move a physical mountain as well as our huge problem. Period.

Have a mindset that Nothing is impossible for God. He created everything and everything listens to Him.

Believe, if God can do that miracle for them then why He can’t do that for us, today? Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)

BE LIKE CHILDREN

Jesus told us to be like children –

“And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

We need to be like children when it comes to having faith in the Lord. You can’t see His power and miracles with your college degree, book knowledge, or worldly wisdom.

A child never worries how his father is going to provide him with food, clothes, or his needs. It’s not his duty to find everything out. He completely trusts his parents and enjoys his life. Similarly, God will provide every need of our life, we just need to put our complete trust in and enjoy our life in Him. It’s not our duty to find everything out. All we need to do is trust in His power and He will provide everything.  Didn’t He say –

31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:31-34

If He promised you something trust Him with all of your heart and it will be done to you. You don’t need to help Him and tell Him how it is done. The Lord told Abraham that He would give him a son but Sarah instead of trusting in the promise of God used her brain and made Abraham sleep with her servant Hagar to get a son.  consequently, a big problem arrived.

So trust the Lord with your all heart, He knows how to take care of His children better than we do.
